Description Steal your opponent's possessions

Snatch (ぬすむ , Nusumu, lit. Steal?) is a Yellow Tech performed in Chrono Cross. After receiving three boss stars, Mel learns to steal an item from enemies. The move is similar to Kid's Pilfer technique, both of which are learned at the same level. The in-game description for Snatch is remarkably similar to Pilfer's, which reads, "Attempt to steal your opponent's treasure."

Description[edit | edit source]

When successfully performed, Mel rushes the target, snatches a beige cloth bag from the opponent, and turns to face the screen, pumping her fist joyously. When unsuccessful, Mel rushes the target, a "miss" notification appears, and she faces the screen, stomping her feet and throwing down her fists. Most enemies carry two steal-able items. One that is commonly acquired and one that is rarely acquired. The rarer steal is generally a better item.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

To snatch means to seize something suddenly and without permission. In Malaysia, a common form of burglary is called "Snatch theft".
