Mel (メル , Mell?) is the adopted daughter of Macha who lives in Guldove and has acquired a reputation as a tantrum-thrower in Chrono Cross. She is a thief-type character and is one of three characters able to use a stealing Element.
Story[edit | edit source]
Her origins unclear, she was taken in by Macha and soon developed a liking for her sibling, Korcha. She constructed her own crafts in the lower part of the residential tower, and also practiced her skills in combat. When Serge and Kid came to Guldove to heal from the Hydra poison, she mischievously snatched Kid's Elements and hid. Korcha and the others soon found her; though she was upset at first, Kid eventually talked to her and convinced her to join the party. Mel was rumored to be insecure about Korcha, afraid that he would not reciprocate her liking him. Mel then accompanied Serge on his travels.
How to Recruit[edit | edit source]
If you choose to save Kid after she was poisoned, choose to search for Mel after she steals Kid's elements. Talk to Mel after Kid has rejoined your party later in the game.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- In the Missing Piece book (only released in Japan), it is stated in the "Key Word" section on the page concerning Mel that her hobby is to Doodle pictures. Whenever she has any free time, she'll often hole up in her room and do nothing but draw (this can also be seen in game). The book proceeds to note that she even put this hobby of hers to use in battle using the Doodle tech, and speculates (perhaps jokingly) that it may do damage to enemies because of the "painful" quality of her drawings.
- She has a pet cat, named ルチャ lucha.
