The Giant's Claw is a location in Chrono Trigger that appears in 600 AD. An island off the coast of Choras, it houses the entire Tyranno Lair, location of the Reptites in Prehistory. Preserved in its caverns are monsters, treasure, and the Rainbow Shell.
Story
Toma knows the cave houses the legendary Rainbow Shell, but does not have a vessel to reach it nor technology to lift it, due to its extreme weight. Crono and his party are more successful, though they battle the Rust Tyranno to reach it, as a part of The Rainbow Shell sidequest. Apparently, the Black Tyranno from the original cave survives and decays into this new monster. Possibly, it was a machine at creation. The other denizens of this gloomy cavern appear to be strengthened or evolved forms of monsters fought in Prehistory, when the player travels to Tyranno Cave to demolish the Reptites and avenge the destroyed Laruba clan.
The Rainbow Shell lies in the deepest pit of the Giant's Claw; the caves are soon visited by the Knights of Guardia to retrieve the artifact and hold it in Guardia Castle. By 1000 A.D., the Claw returns to the ocean floor.
