The Commander (騎士団長 kishidanchō?, "Knight Leader/Captain") (also known as Knight Captain in the SNES/PS version) is a minor character in Chrono Trigger and the leader of the Guardia squads in the Middle Ages.
His brother is the Master of Kitchens, which serves a part when he gives Crono Spiced Jerky to feed the troops. The Commander then gives the player a Golden Helm.
