Medina Village is a location in Chrono Trigger. It is a small village that appears in the Present, populated almost entirely by Mystics. This is first area Crono and his team visit after their first visit to the End of Time, which they must go through to get back to Guardia. Due to the Human/Mystic conflict that occurred in 600 BC, most residents are hostile to human visitors and are generally rude (though the owners of the house that the gateway is in state that they like to leave what has happened in the past). All the shopkeepers charge an extremely large amount of money for their goods and services if the customer is human, often making them unaffordable. Sometimes, Medina inhabitants will try to attack Crono. In the town square, there is a statue of Magus (or Ozzie, depending on timeline changes) that Medina residents will worship, praying for the Day of Lavos. The inhabitants also talk of a monster that lives in a cave nearby that can only be killed by magic, often refering to how humans can no longer use magic. The Guru Melchior sets up his residence not far from the town.

If you are defeated by Lavos, they briefly mention that Medina has been destroyed.

Timeline Changes

After completing the quest that requires the player to defeat Ozzie, Flea, and Slash at Ozzie's Fort, the anti-human animosity that Medina has disappeared. Many of the residents are now friendly and carefree and the shopkeepers charge reasonable prices. There are even some humans in the town. Plus, the statue in Medina Square of Ozzie is gone.

Trivia

Medina is also a town in Saudi Arabia prominent to Muslims, mostly likely inspired the name of the village in the game.
