— Shadow Forest Quadffid, after consuming the red-colored creature

The Quadffid is an enemy fought in Chrono Cross. These flora creatures take on the form of a massive rock melon with two leaves attached for a head, and two pairs of vines for legs. Quadffids are mainly found in the Hydra Marshes (Home World) although one may be found in the Shadow Forest (Another World) when the player chooses Nikki's route to Viper Manor.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

A Quadffid can be found in the deeper reaches of the Shadow Forest (Another World), blocking a path as it lays in a peaceful slumber. It will awaken when any one of the jelly-like creatures found throughout the forest is lured before it, whereupon it will devour said creature. The player will only battle this Quadffid when either the blue or yellow creature is lured before it, whereas luring the red one before said Quadffid will cause it to shrink and flee after leaving behind the Skullduggery frame.

They can be found in abundance in the Hydra Marshes (Home World), and usually appear in pairs, though they are sometimes accompanied by Swarmp Bugs. Quadffids mainly attack with their vine-legs, which they use to whip their foes with for mediocre amounts of damage. They are known to use a small range of Green elements, with Bushwhacker being used the most frequently. They also possess a special tech which they share with the Sidesteppa, which is that of Devour. Devour allows Quadffids to literally swallow selected targets whole before spitting them back out, inflicting both fairly heavy amounts of damage and possibly the Poisoned status effect.

On the whole, Quadffids are relatively easy to defeat, and should not pose too much of a problem for players facing them in battle.
