The Gremlin is an enemy appearing in Chrono Cross. Gremlins take on an impish appearance, with a majority of their bodies covered in black fur and their underbellies covered in a combination of yellow and white fur. These mischievous-looking demons can be found prowling about exclusively in the over-world map of the Dead Sea, and bear a striking resemblance to Gurgoyles. Gremlins can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

Gremlins usually appear in large groups of fours or fives. In battle, Gremlins attack by first crawling up to their foes before smacking said foes with their front paws. Gremlins are capable of using a small range of Green elements, ranging from healing ones like Heal to offensive ones like AeroBlaster. They also possess two special techs, which are ToxicBreath and AttackAll. ToxicBreath allows them to both inflict damage and the Poison status effect onto selected targets, while AttackAll allows two or three Gremlins to come together to perform a combination attack on their foes.

Name Origin[edit | edit source]

A gremlin is an imaginary creature commonly depicted as mischievous and mechanically oriented with an inclination to damage or dismantle machinery. In this case, the Gremlin enemy is found in a location from the future, whereby it is practically surrounded by nothing but the destruction of technologically advanced equipment and buildings. As such, its name is a befitting one.
