The Combat is an enemy appearing in Chrono Cross. Taking on the appearance of an over-sized bat, these thin fiends of the night appear exclusively in Fort Dragonia. When they are not actively participating in battle, Combats will keep their wings folded up in front of them, all the while keeping a close eye on the battle ahead. Combats can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.
Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]
Combats usually appear in pairs, accompanied by other species of monsters in battle. They are known to show up in pairs with Googhouls and Paper Boys, and on infrequent occasions, appear alone with a combination of Googhouls and Alphabats or just a pair of Alphabats. Combats fight by smacking their foes with their large wings, alongside a wide range of Black elements, which they are known to use rather frequently. They possess a tech unique to them, which is that of BatBeam, which may inflict fairly heavy damage.

Name Origin[edit | edit source]
Combat is a pun of the synonym for battle, which bears the exact same name, as well as including a double meaning for the word bat, the type of creature this enemy is.
The Japanese name of this tech, on the other hand, refers directly to the appearance of the Combat itself, which resembles a queer combination of both a crow and a bat.
