The Bulb is an enemy appearing in Chrono Cross. These queer, rotund-shaped creatures can be found roaming about in the dark depths of the Shadow Forest. Bulbs can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.

The Acacia Dragoon and genetic scientist, Luccia, experiments on Bulbs in her laboratory in Viper Manor. After Serge steals the Silver Pendant from the Vault, he and his companions trigger a trap that lands them in a cage in her workshop. Upon opening the cell, she sends Neo-N-Bulb after the party.

Additionally, PortalGheists are able to summon Bulbs, alongside Komodo Pups, to assist it in battle when it is low on HP.

Battle and Strategy

Bulbs usually appear in groups of two and on rare occasions, alone. They fight using their tendrils as whips and also by head-butting. Home World versions of Bulb have improved movesets and Element grids, and are slightly stronger than their Another World counterparts. As with most other enemies, they also posses better drops and steal-able items. Bulbs will also cast the ☆Sonja summoning element when the field is green, and as such, it would be a good idea to set out the ↓Sonja trap as soon as possible in battle.

Name Origin

Many perinneal plants, such as Tulips, Daffodils, and Irises sprout from Bulbs placed beneath soil. Bulbs reside underground and send flowers to the surface annually, replacing the need of plants to self-sew seeds.
