Neo-N-Bulb is a boss that appears in Viper Manor (Another World) in Chrono Cross. They are a stronger version of the Bulb that appears in Shadow Forest, created by Luccia.

It is important to note that while this monster can be added to the Doppelgang list, this is not possible until a second playthrough with New Game + using a character equipped with the Forget-Me-Not Pot accessory equipped, as both Sprigg and the Forget-Me-Not Pot are not obtainable until some time after this boss fight, and because this boss does not appear in the Bend of Time.

Story[edit | edit source]

When the party steals the Silver Pendant hanging from the wall in the treasury of Viper Manor, the wall flips and the party finds themselves trapped in the cages of Luccia's lab next door to the treasury. After a short dialogue sequence, Luccia opens the door of Serge and co.'s cage. When Kid asks why she saved the party, Lucia laughs and informs her and the rest of the party that they are mere guinea pigs for her experiments, at which points she sends two Neo-N-Bulbs to assault the party.

After the battle, the party learns she simply wished to test how strong Serge and the rest of his party is, with her seeming to be pleased with the results of experiment, as the party proved to be much stronger than she anticipated. She then tells them to leave the Lab, not seeming to care that they stole the Silver Pendant from the neighboring room.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

There are two Neo-N-Bulbs fought within Luccia's research room in Viper's Manor. They are known to use a small range of elements in battle such as Bushbasher, which deals heavy damage to a single party member and may cause the Status Effect Poison, Bushwhacker which hurls a wind at single foe and deals medicore damage, and they are also known to cast PoisonGas which inflicts damage on the entire party and may also cause the Status effect Poison to them.

Due to the fact these two boss monsters can inflict Poison on all party members, it is recommended to have a stock of Antidotes allocated to a character's Element Grid before fighting them.
