The Fossicker is an enemy appearing in Chrono Cross. Found solely in the Earth Dragon Isle in both worlds, Fossickers possess slender, carapace bodies, and have with three eyes and four arms. Donning helmets on their heads, they carry a lantern and a spade, both of which are wielded by their left arms. Fossickers also carry a pot containing a Bomber in one of their right arms, and carry a huge backpack on their backs. Fossickers can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.
Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]
Fossickers usually appear alone, and are sometimes accompanied by YellowBellies or Rockroaches. They use their spades as their weapons of choice to perform physical attacks, inflicting mediocre damage in the process. Fossickers are able to use a variety of Yellow elements, such as Earthquake and AntiGreen, allowing them to vary their attacks in battles. They possess two unique techs, BombsAway and BrightEyes. Around their second turn in battle, Fossickers will activate the BombsAway tech, fishing out a Bomber from their pots and hurling it at their foes. Bombers are extremely dangerous, as their BombsAway tech is capable of docking off half of their foes' HP. BrightEyes, on the other hand, is also able to inflict fairly heavy amounts of damage, but thankfully enough, Fossickers use said tech very rarely.

Name Origin[edit | edit source]
Fossickers, in real life, gather minerals as a form of recreation, without any intention to sell said minerals or to utilize them for a commercial purposes. In this case, the Fossicker enemy roams about the depths of the Earth Dragon Isle, most probably to mine minerals from rocks found in said location.
The Japanese name of the Fossicker, Rockman, directly refers to said enemy's tendency to be found in a location where there is nothing but sand and rocks all around.
