Description | Steals an item from an enemy, with a higher success rate than Charm. |
Twin Charm (W色仕掛け Wいろじかけ daburu irojikake "Double Seduce"?) is a double tech used by Marle and Ayla. Learned once Marle and Ayla learn Allure and Charm respectively, the two combine their feminine wiles to increase the success rate of Ayla's ordinary Charm tech and steal an item from an opponent. Wearing Alluring Top does not increase the likelihood that this tech will succeed.
Description[edit | edit source]
When cast, the two assume their usual tech stances and several pink hearts circle the screen before entering an enemy. If successful, a white box wrapped in red ribbon is thrown into Ayla's hands and the screen displays which item was looted. If unsuccessful, the two shake their heads side to side and no present will appear on screen.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Twin Charm implies that two party members combine their skills to successfully steal from an opponent. Oddly enough, Ayla and Marle are distantly related, which may add a double meaning to the word Twin.
The Japanese name of the technique, Wいろじかけ daburu irojikake is a combination of the word "W" which sometimes means "Double" in Japanese (see description below) and irojikake which is a Japanese word meaning something like "Seduce" (see Charm article for more details)
- meaning behind W in Japanese: In the Japanese language, the letter "W", as found in this technique's Japanese name, is often used as a stand in for the English loanword "Double". This is because the letter "W (double u)" and "double" are pronounced the same in Japanese: ダブル daburu.
