The Golden Earring (also known as GoldErng in the SNES/PS version) is an accessory in Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Effects vary between games, but in both games, Golden Earring is more potent than Silver Earring.

Chrono Trigger

It doubles your HP and is wearable by everyone in the party. If the character's HP is over 500, The Golden Earring makes that character's HP 999, the maximum amount. It can be found in Arris Dome behind a Sealed Door or it can be charmed from Synchrite.

Chrono Cross

Increasing the amount of Hit Points in battle (20-30%), this item can be equipped by any party member. Rarely, this accessory is stolen from Dragoon, Gyroblade, Pterodact, Robo Ducky, Taurminator, and Tyrano. Alternatively, Lava-Boy and Zoah drop after defeating them in battle. Gold Earring disassembles for (3) Humour and (1) Mythril, and it sells for 975 G.

Name Origin

An earring is a piece of jewelry worn about the ear. Although it pierces the flesh and is known to cause infection or harm in rare cases, this item probably boosts vitae due to the youthful vigor attributed to those who wear piercings. Gold is a mineral often used in the making of earrings and is very valuable.
