The Aecytosaur (also known as Gigasaur in the SNES/PS version) is an enemy in Chrono Trigger. First appearing in the Giant's Claw in the Middle Ages, Aectyosaurs share the same sprites as Terasaurs. Bulky and rotund, these dinosaur-like creatures sport green-colored skin and with yellow chests and bellies. Their head is narrow and their eyes are at the sides, similar to a bird or reptile. Their nose is pointy with a brown tip. Additionally, on either side of their head brown-tipped ears, resembling those of a feline. At their backs are two small wings and a big, heavy tail. Ironically, these wings would be incapable of lifting their massive weight in flight.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

When attacked with Light Magic, its physical defense severely weakens. It is very weak to Magic, otherwise, so if the player does not have Crono in the party, it can still be easily defeated.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Aecyto-, in the name, is an adaptation of the Latin prefix Alecto- which refers to dinosaurs with horns. While -Saur is the Latin suffix for lizard.
