The Alkali (also known as Alkaline in the SNES/PS version) is an enemy in Chrono Trigger that appears in the Derelict Factory in the Future. Mostly amorphous blobs of green goop, these creatures exhibit some humanoid features such as mouths, eyes, and arms. Occasionally, they curl up into puddles, which increases their Defense. Attacking them should cause them to unfurl into the true form. Alkali share similar palette forms with Acid and Shadows and often accompany large groups of them in battle. The main difference is the color. Acid are orange, Shadow are purple, and Alkali are green.
Battle and Strategy
Similar to Acid, this creature's physical defense is very high, and it is weak to Light, so using Magical Techs that deal Light damage or physical Techs that deal also deal Light damage is the way to go. Such techs include Lightning or Wind Slash.
Etymology
Alkali is an abbreviation for Alkaline, which is a substance used in Alkaline Batteries. Seeing as how this is enemy appears in a futuristic factory, it is not surprising that there is an abundance of such substances in this area.
