The Guru Of Woe is the twenty-first chapter of Chrono Trigger.
Walkthrough[edit | edit source]
Crono, and the others (Marle, Lucca, Frog, Robo, and/or Ayla) discovered the Epoch, and are back at 12000 BC. They went through the Mudbeast Den, and are now in the Mountain of Woe, to rescue Melchior (the Guru of Life). While in the Mountain of Woe, you'll see some enemies called Rubbles, and they will use onmilock to disable your Tech, and Item commands. It is hard to beat the Rubbles, but when you defeat them, you'll obtain a Mid-Ether. Also on the mountain, there is a lot of treasure so, be on the look out. Some enemies that the party will fight are: Bomber Birds (they'll drop Stone Imps after defeated), Gargoyles, and Death Lilys.
Tip: If you have Ayla in the party, each enemy on the mountain (except Stone Imp, and Rubble) has a special weapon. Ayla could use Charm to obtain the weapons.
When the players reach to the top of the mountain, where Melchior's prison is, the seal will disappear, and a boss known as a Giga Gaia will appear.
Tip: Destroy the arms before fighting the Giga Gaia (it'll spawn more later though), it's better to start with the Attack Arm, then the Defense Arm.
After the Giga Gaia is destroyed, the seal will appear, and un-seals, and then there is Melchior. Melchior doesn't recognize them, because Melchior didn't meet them until the Mammon Machine incident, and Melchior transports to the Present.
