Masa & Mune are beings of unknown species that combine to form the Masamune in both Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross and the Mastermune in just Chrono Cross.
Masa and Mune are shape shifters that, when first encountered, take on the forms of children in the Denadoro Mountains in Trigger. They are encountered in the chapter Tata And The Frog. When you inform them that you wish to have ownership of the Masamune, they will transform into their main demon-like forms. You will battle them both, but only the defeat of one is necessary to procede to the true boss of the Denadoro mountains, Masa & Mune combined.
