Lavos Spawn is a boss in Chrono Trigger. It appears on Death Peak during the Future. The player can only attack the face. Attacking the shell will result in a counter-attack. There are 3 Lavos Spawns in total, each of which are required battles. The 3rd and final Lavos Spawn's shell is used to progress through Death Peak.

Strategy

Don't attack the shell. Doing so forces a counter attack that is wicked powerful. Use techs that will only hit the face, and preferably powerful ones. Magic attacks are neutral, and so are recommended for magically based characters (Marle, Lucca, Magus). Just attack the shell, and heal up when HP gets low, and you should have no problem with these Demon Spawns.

Etymology

Its name literally comes from being Lavos' spawn. In other words, the Laruba would probably call it Child of Big Fire.
