Doan is a character that appears in the Future in Chrono Trigger.
Doan is the descendant of the director of the Arris Dome. When Marle, Crono, and Lucca enter the Arris Dome, he is surprised to hear they made it through Site 16 alive. When the three want to enter the basement of the dome, he tells them that they have made many attempts themselves though they have all ended in failure. The three enter the basement, defeat the Guardian, and find a seed.
When they come up from the basement, they give the seed to Doan. He says that they are a strange bunch, to which Marle says it is because they have not lost hope. Doan says he will try his best to grow the seed and gives the three the Jetbike Key, which they can use to drive a jetbike at Site 32. Doan mentions that more powerful robots lie ahead and that they should not give up hope.
After the party defeat Lavos, it is revealed that Doan is a descendant of the kings of Guardia, meaning that Marle is distantly related to him.
