Cyrus is a character from Chrono Trigger mentioned and shown several times throughout the chapters of Tata And The Frog, The Masamune!, Magus's Castle, The Time Egg, The Hero's Grave, and Ozzie's Fort.

Cyrus is an ally and friend to Frog from when Frog was human. He held the appearance of a generic knight captain character from the Middle Ages except with the key differences of having black armor and a purple cape.

SPOILER WARNING:

Cyrus is a character from the Middle Ages whom befriended Glenn(Frog)prior to any of his introductions to help signify just how good of friends the two really were. As children, Glenn often was bullied by the other children of Guardia, but their fear(or possibly respect)of Cyrus made them stop and leave him alone whenever Cyrus came about to defend Glenn. Eventually later on as young adults Cyrus made the decision that he wanted to become a Guardia Knight and protect people and save lives. However when Cyrus suggests Glenn join as well Glenn rejects saying he could never be a knight even though by the words of Cyrus Glenn's even better with a sword than him. Glenn reveals though he feels he couldn't be a knight because he doesn't wish to harm a person ever; that he doesn't have it in him to do so.

And so years later Cyrus becomes a knight, Glenn still not one but none the less Glenn is still somewhat of a sidekick to Cyrus, assisting him in combat against extreme dangers but mostly monsters.

Cyrus one day accepts the King(600 AD)'s request for the knights to attempt to stop Magus whom has been plauging the land of Guardia for awhile now along with Ozzie, Slash, and Flea. In order to face Magus however and even stand a chance, he is required to have in his possession the Hero's Badge and the Masamune. In what is similar to a boss battle, with the Boss Battle 1 theme playing in the background, a battle takes place in Guardia Forest with the Toad King whom has possession of the Hero's Badge. Cyrus manages to defeat it with a move which he cries out as Nova Strike.

Later on Cyrus and Glenn are atop the Denadoro Mountains, as well as Magus and Ozzie, at the location of the entrance to where Masa and Mune can be found. However, despite Cyrus having the proper equipment, Magus still defeats him and then casts him in flames before Glenn's eyes. As to Ozzie's suggestion Magus afterwards turns Glenn into a frog.

In The Hero's Grave sidequest for Frog, Cyrus' ghost haunts the Northern Ruins in the present as an invincible boss. He will attack with weak moves and all the team's techs and combos will do zero damage. All standard attacks will miss him as well. Eventually, the battle stops when Frog recognizes the ghost as Cyrus'. Cyrus will question whether or not it really is him and then continue to haunt the Northern Ruins. He will disappear and allow access only when his spirit has been put at ease. After making one's way through the Northern Ruins in the Middle Ages, having Frog approach Cyrus' grave will initiate a scene where Frog allows Cyrus to know that he survived his encounter with Magus. This puts Cyrus' ghost at ease and he transcends into the afterlife. Afterward, honor truly restored and peace made with his friend, Frog's Masamune will gain massive power becoming Frog's best weapon in the game once more.
