Tata is a character that appears in Chrono Trigger (in the Middle Ages) and Chrono Crisis.
Story
Chrono Trigger
Tata lives in a small town of Porre, which is south of the Zenan Bridge with his father and grandfather.
The Hero Appears
Tata finds the Hero's Badge one day when Frog drops it. Since he always wanted to be a knight, he put on the badge and paraded around with it. Everyone, including his father, believed him to be the Hero reborn, even though he was only a child.
He is then put on a course to climb the Denadoro Mountains and reclaim the Masamune so that he can slay Magus.
Tata and the Frog
Obviously, the fiends who dwell on Denadoro were to much for him, and Tata fled. He returns home and hides under the stairs. Crono and company find him hiding there, and he gives them the badge, saying he never wanted to be the hero in the first place.
Chrono Cross
A portrait of an adult Tata appears in the data of the game's demo version, but the character can't be met in either version of the game.
Chrono Crisis
A young adult Tata was set to appear in the fangame Chrono Crisis.
