Witchetty is an enemy fought in Chrono Cross. They are a monster resembling a cross between a caterpillar and a slug, found exclusively in the underground sewers of Viper Manor in Home World and the Bend of Time, both of which are optional areas which one never has to visit. It often appears together with two Alphabats. When found alone, it will after a short period of time regurgitate Gloop enemies. It can regurgitate up to three or four Gloops per battle.

Battle and Strategy
This enemy exclusively uses physical attacks, having no elemental abilities (contrary to the Doppelgang form of this monster, which does have elements as seen in the chart under the section "Element Grid" listed below).

The Witchetty's attack patterns vary depending on if it is with Alphabats or alone. When fought together with Alphabat enemies, it will simply physically attack. When fought individually, it will focus on regurgitating Gloop enemies, for a maximum of three or four Gloops. When it is done regurgitating Gloops, it will simply remain inactive for the remainder of battle unless all Gloop enemies are defeated, after which it will again start to regurgitate more Gloops.

Battle and Strategy
For the former pattern, simply focus powerful attacks on this monster to defeat it quickly, since it has more powerful attacks than the Alphabats. For the second pattern, you can try to defeat the Witchetty before it is able to spit out Gloop enemies using the most powerful attacks you have, though this might be difficult as this monster posesses a fairly large amount of HP and will act fairly quickly. Alternatively, you can let it spit out the max number of Gloop enemies, defeat all but one of them, and then focus the remainder of your powerful attacks on the Witchetty before defeating the final Gloop, since the Witchetty will remain inactive while any Gloop enemies are on the field.

Name Origin
Their Japanese name イモムー imomū possibly derives from the Japanese word for caterpillar, イモ虫 imomushi.
