The Puffy is an enemy fought in Chrono Cross. With their bodies entirely covered in red-colored spikes, these yellow-and-white-colored fish can be found swimming about the depths of the El Nido Triangle. Puffies can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.

Battle and Strategy
Puffies usually appear in twos or threes, and are sometimes accompanied by JellyBlubbas, Mantarreys or Sidesteppas. They attack by body-slamming into their enemies, whereupon the spikes on their bodies will inflict fairly heavy amounts of damage onto said foes. Incapable of using elements of any sort, Puffies make up for this by possessing a special tech which they share with the Scorpiod, NeedleWork. NeedleWork enables Puffies to release a barrage of spikes from its body at selected targets to inflict heavy amounts of damage. On the whole, Puffies can prove to be fairly formidable foes, due to the strength of its attacks, both physical and tech wise. It is advised to unleash Green-based elements or techs on these foes to take them out as soon as possible in battle.

Name Origin
The name of this enemy, Puffy, is a play on the name of the puffer fish. However, the anatomy of the Puffy enemy closely resembles that of the slender-spined porcupine fish instead, which have large, external spines that are visible on their bodies. This is unlike actual puffer fish, which possess spines that are kept hidden within their bodies unless threatened.

The Japanese name of this enemy, Acupuncture, is a pun on the way the Puffy enemy utilizes its spines to pierce the bodies of their foes to inflict damage. Acupuncture is a type of alternative medicine that treats patients by insertion and manipulation of solid, generally thin needles in the body.
