PreyMantis is an enemy fought in Chrono Cross.
The PAGENAME is an enemy fought in CC. Taking on the appearance of gargantuan-sized mosquitoes, these mutated creatures can be found skittering about various intervals in Gaea's Navel. PreyMantises are unable to fly, and are surprisingly agile on their highly unstable-looking legs. They can be trapped in the Forget-Me-Not Pot and added to the pool of Doppelgangs performed by Sprigg.

Battle and Strategy
PreyMantises usually appear in pairs, and are also known to be sometimes accompanied by at least one Prehysteric or one Pterodact. They attack with their two front pincer-like claws, which they use to strike their foes with for fairly heavy amounts of damage. PreyMantises are capable of using a fairly huge range of Green elements as well, such as AeroSaucer and HealAll. They also possess two special techs of their own, which is that of Stinger and BugSwatter. Stinger allows PreyMantises to inject venom into selected targets, both inflicting fairly heavy damage and the Poisoned status effect. BugSwatter, on the other hand, is used less frequently, and involves the PreMantus in question leaping up into the air and landing heavily onto selected targets to inflict heavy amounts of damage. On the whole, PreyMantises might appear to be rather intimidating, but should not pose too much of a problem. A stash of Antidotes should be kept in store to counter the Poison status effect Stinger is able to bring about.

Name Origin
The name of this enemy, PreyMantis, is a play on the name of the Praying Mantis. Praying mantises belong to an order of insects known as the Mantodea], which contains approximately 2,200 species in 15 families worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. While the design of the PreyMantis enemy's anatomy does closely resemble that of a praying mantis, instead of having brown or green colored bodies, they adopt the color scheme which resembles that of a mosquito instead.

The Japanese name of this enemy, Long Leg, is a pun on the fact that the PreyMantis enemy possesses a set of rather lengthy legs.
