Ayla, the woman-chief, agrees to relinquish the stone if Crono can beat her at a soup-chugging competition. He wins, but before the stone is handed over, [[Reptite]]s raid the village and steal it. Kino steals the [[Gate Key]] out of jealously for the attention Ayla shows Crono, and she demands it back; however, it was stolen form him by the Reptites. With help from Ayla, they retrieve the stone and the key, returning to [[1000 A.D.]] to repair the sword. At this time, the party still believes Magus created/summoned [[Lavos]]; thus by defeating him, the future is preserved. | |||
