The Epoch is a vehicle that is used to travel through time in Chrono Trigger. When it is first given to the party by Belthasar its wings are retracted. Later on, after getting kidnapped and taken on board the Blackbird, Dalton enables the Epoch's wings and claims it as his own. Once Dalton is defeated, the Epoch can then be used to fly around the world map. The Epoch is able to travel to any time period. If the player attempts to go to 1999 AD via the Epoch, one of two things will happen depending on whether or not it has its wings; either the team will run in on foot to face Lavos' first form or they will crash into Lavos, thus destroying the Epoch but avoiding the first form entirely.
In Chrono Cross one can still find the Epoch in the Dead Sea, dismantled and destroyed.
