The sage of Marbule is the wise leader over the town's people, and is well versed in the mysteries surrounding the El Nido archipelago. His origins unclear, he probably succeeded another elder as the village headman. He displayed a wise and calm demeanor, tempered by a quick wit and worldly knowledge. In Home World, he grew to become friends with Fargo, who married Zelbess and shared in her dream of a united Demi-human and Human culture. He also came into possession of a mysterious Fiddler Crab said to control the tides. Unfortunately, after Zelbess died and the dream of the Black Dragon manifested itself in Marbule, the Sage left with his people to work in servitude aboard the S.S. Zelbess. While the Sage displayed much cynicism on the outside, he still held hope for the salvation of Marbule. This glimmer of hope came when Nikki asked the sage to teach him the Song of Marbule, which would cleanse the island and allow reconstruction. The sage, always a clever operator, seemed to reject, but hummed the song to himself as he mopped the floors. He also bestowed the Fiddler Crab upon Serge, allowing him to enter the Dead Sea. Later, he let his full exuberance shine through as Marbule was rebuilt. He became friends with Fargo once more after a bitter falling out, and the two reminisced of their old days.

In Another World, the sage shared the bitter resentment of humans experienced by the other villagers. Though he put up with Serge's inquiries, he ended each answer with a warning to never go anywhere near the Sea of Eden.
