Alfador is the purple feline pet of the character Janus in Chrono Trigger.

Alfador truly serves no plot purpose, but does show little important things such as Janus remarks that Alfador only likes him. After Dalton is eliminated permanently, going to the Commons in 12000 BC with Magus in your party will help show Magus is actually Janus as an adult when Alfador will follow your team, particularly next to Magus wherever he is in your party, but if Magus is not with you, then Alfador will merely ignore the party.
