RoyalJelly is a boss fought in Chrono Cross. It is a large jelly fish which guards over Starky's UFO-like spaceship in El Nido Triangle (Another World), which the party will need to enter to go to Terra Tower late in the game.

It is immune to physical attacks and can only harmed by Red Elements. The party earns a Level Star for defeating this boss.

Story[edit | edit source]

When Terra Tower has arisen after the events in Chronopolis, the party needs to find a way there as they have no means to take them to this airborne location. After recruiting the alien Starky to the party by giving the Star Fragment to him in Sky Dragon Isle (Home World), whose spaceship has crash landed and is no longer operational, leaving him earthbound against his wishes; they eventually find out that his ship in Another World is still functional - but first, they must defeat the RoyalJelly who is blocking the entrance to his ship. After defeating this creature, they enter the ship, and Starky finds an anti-gravity device that he attachs to Korcha's boat; which they use to fly to Terra Tower.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

Since this boss can only be harmed by Red Elemental attacks, it is absolutely necessary to have a decent number of Red Elemental attacks to defeat this boss. If you enter this battle without Red Elements, you can flee from the battle at any time to allocate Red Elements if necessary.

Since physical attacks are entirely ineffective in this battle, use weak attacks to build up the element grid and then use your most powerful red elements, healing when necessary (it might be best to use non-Blue elements for healing to avoid making the Field Effect blue).

This boss uses physical attacks, Numble, Vortex (a unique enemy tech which does large Blue elemental damage to all characters that can cause Flu) , IceBlast and Iceberg. It always uses Iceberg shortly after IceBlast and a physical attack, so it might be a good idea to bring a Trap Iceberg along to capture this element and to protect the party from being damaged by this powerful element.

If you stole the Blue Plate from the Water Dragon, this armor will make any character equipped with it immune to the majority of this boss's attacks, as all of its elemental attacks are Blue.

It's also recommended to bring Starky along for this fight; not because he is particularly useful against this boss, but simply because you can't proceed to Terra Tower without him as he is the only one that can operate his ship which this boss guards over, and because there is no save point nearby to switch characters, meaning you'll have to go all the way back to the world map if you didn't bring Starky.
