"...the spark splits off into two, forming a circle around us. Once the circle is complete, an odd glow starts to shine at our feet! Then, from where the sparks had traced, light shoots upwards, forming a wall of light all around us! It's a Devil Circle! We try to move, but we find ourselves caught within the rays of light!"

Devil Circle is an enemy in Radical Dreamers: Nusumenai Hōseki. Appearing in the passageway that leads to the Zeal Ruins beneath Viper Manor, the Devil's Circle is a magical glyph, set to spring up and encapsulate those seeking to trespass on Lynx's lair.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Devil Circle appears as a two-dimensional, rune-covered disc on the floor of a stone passageway. Invisible to the eye, Devil Circle snares prey the moment their feet enter the rim of the circle. The glyphs and patterns within the circle appear in bright blues, reds, and golds when active. The circle emits blinding light when activated to prevent caged entities from escaping.

In Combat[edit | edit source]

The circle ensnares all who step within it's borders, blinding them with incredible light. The circle cannot be bested through physical combat. Only those who know the way through the maze of blinding light can escape its borders. Penetrating the outer reaches of the circle requires an intense amount of will. If Serge is greatly wounded, Gil lends assistance in breaking through the first barrier of the circle. The other three barriers are broken by correctly navigating the light-maze surrounding the circle. Failing to take the correct direction results in the party taking physical damage. The circle cannot be avoided; battling it is necessary for the progression of the game. The directions for correctly navigating the disc are learned if the party agrees to free the Rat in the Kitchenette. The Rat then transforms into a Gryphon. Parry the beast and it eventually surrenders, offering the directions through the maze of the circle.
