Square Enix is the current name of Square, the publisher and developer of Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Radical Dreamers: Nusumenai Hōseki. Square Enix is the result of a merger between Square (best known for their Final Fantasy series) and Enix (makers of the Dragon Quest series) which was finalized in April 2003. The original releases of the Chrono series games were published and developed when Square Enix were still under the Square moniker prior to the merger with Enix, but the re-releases of Chrono Trigger for DS, smartphones, and Windows as well as Chrono Cross for the Playstation Network were published under the Square Enix branding.
