Polly is a boss fought in Chrono Cross. When aboard the S.S. Zelbess, Fargo tests the strength of Serge and his friends by forcing them to fight bands of enemies. The second to last band includes this mammoth Pterodact.

Battle

With green feathers and a large beak, this bird can potentially lay out the party with its devastating physical attacks and its powerful technique, Flap. Keep Hit Points high through the use of several healing Elements and unleash several offensive Blue Elements whenever appropriate to decimate this giant avian creature's hit points. Elements such as AquaBeam, IceLance, and IceBlast are extremely helpful. Despite its White Innate qualities, Dash&Slash proves extremely useful as well due to its high damage capabilities.

Focus the casting of elements on Luccia, or Blue Innate Pierre (if he was chosen as a guide to Viper Manor), as the first has high a high Magic stat and the second's innate principle allows for added damage to blue elements. Whenever Serge's stamina is high, use all points except one to unleash physical attacks, as his damage rate is highest, then perform a water element or defend. Use the third party member as a primary healer. Ensure that the proper arrangement of elements is taken care of before boarding the Zelbess.

Name Origin

Parrots across a broad spectrum of artistic media, are given the name Polly, likely due to the famous phrase, "Polly want a cracker." The phrase became popular through the Warner Brothers Inc. cartoon "I wanna be a sailor" (1937). Alternatively, the name Polly is an adaption of Molly and therefore an adaption of Mary, whose use stems from Biblical Lore, as the name was given to Mary, Mother of Jesus.
