PolisPolice is a boss fought in Chrono Cross. It is a large mecha encountered at the entrance to Chronopolis which protects the location from intruders.

This boss is notable for having the extremely rare Rainbow Shell as an uncommon steal (9% success rate), which are one of the necessary materials for the creation of the Rainbow/Prism equipment which are generally the most powerful weapons and armor in the game. You can flee from the battle and restart the battle until you receive this item if you so wish.

Battle and Strategy[edit | edit source]

This boss uses powerful phusical attacks in addition to the White Element attacks MegatonFist and Bazooka - the "MegatonFist" is only used during the early portion of the battle; the latter attack "Bazooka" is used once the PolisPolice has had half its HP depleted, which is indicated visually by its armor blowing off.

While this boss's physical attacks are dangerous, its two white elemental techs are its most deadly attacks. It is recommended to use Diminish to weaken its Elemental power and focus on physically attacking it while healing when HP gets too low; possibly using supplemental Elements like Strengthen, Weaken and EagleEye to increase the amount of physical damage dealt and to keep the Field Effect from becoming all White.

If you stole the White Plate from the Sky Dragon, it will help immensely in this battle as any character equipped with this armor will absorb the damage from the MegatonFist and Bazooka attacks and be healed in the process.

Name origin[edit | edit source]

PolisPolice is a play on words combining the similar sounding words "Polis" and "Police". Polis comes from the Greek word for "City" or "city-state" - presumably this was chosen because Chronopolis was similar to a city-state in some ways despite being intended a research center, with this boss serving as police to protect its secrets from leaking out.

Its Japanese name comes from the mineral Beryl; perhaps implying that this mineral was used in the creation of this giant robot.
