HighBeam (高密度ビーム , Kōmitsudo bīmu?) is a Red Enemy Tech used by Gizmotoids in Chrono Cross. This tech allows its user to shoot a laser beam at a selected target from a high angle, inflicting fairly heavy damage in the process.
Description[edit | edit source]
While continuing to balance on poles, the Gizmotoid in question will swivel its main body in a 360-degree direction. It will then detach its head from its arms and reveal a socket, which it aims at the selected target. The socket will then be opened up to reveal a small gun barrel embedded within a fan-like structure. As the gun barrel is extended, an orange-colored laser beam is fired at the target.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
High Beams are ultra-bright headlamps on the front of motor vehicles, used for adding distance to visibility when operating a vehicle at night or during extreme weather conditions such as blizzards or torrential rain. Since Gizmotoid strongly resembles an aircraft or other navigational vehicle, and also possesses headlamps similar to automobiles, this tech and its visual effects make the tech name appropriate.
