Wikia has created a new system and was wondering if our wiki was interesting in including one. I've already included it in my other wiki. What it basically is.... is it keep track of everything you do like adding categories, fixing pages, making and commenting in blogs, adding pictures etc and you get points. 50 points for bronze, 100 for gold and i think 200 for gold. There are also secret achievements as well... if you are interesting vote yes below... if not well vote no... For more information click here.

Ah, I see we got some votes. There are some downside but I think it would be worth to have it here to promote contribution to the wiki. Any thoughts? Zeypher 09:42, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

I think it sounds cool, It seems like more people would contribute and help out and even small things make the wiki better. IDK how the system works, but if larger contributions equal more points, I'd imagine that people would be filling out huge missing chunks of Crimson Echos, and Chrono Cross. -Sonicboom112

Basically how the system works, you make an edit it will accumulate. Even one edit is worth points. Then it goes up to 10 edits equal another 10-20 points. 50 edits, 100, 200 up to 500. Making a blog earn a point, commenting on other people's profile. There are three types, bronze (worth 10) silver (worth 50) and gold (worth 100)... I also noticed someone voted no... if you voted yes or no, please also leave a comment saying why. So that I can accurately determine if we should add this feature into the wiki. Also Sonicboom you can add ~~~~ so it will display your signature without you typing it. Zeypher 17:56, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

Okay. Sounds cool, I'm in favor. Sonicboom112 18:07, August 14, 2010 (UTC)

I voted no. A similar discussion can be found here, but I might as well post my opinion here.
I think Achievements are a good idea, but bad in practice. For example, think about Sir Admin Zey here. He has 5,000 edits (if I'm correcT), and if the Ach.s start, he might as well have zero. That's right, Achievements do not count toward previous edits. Are you telling me you're going to edit 5,000 times just for a little internet medal?

Secondly, it encourages editing for the wrong reasons. I edit for the happiness, satisfaction, and feeling of warmth, knowing I contributed to a growing bee-hive of information. I also edit to pass the time. I don't edit for the glory, or to be praised. That is the wrong reason to edit.

Thirdly, we're going to get people who edit for the medals only. Why edit and do something useful and spend an hour, when you can type in a capital letter 100 times and get a medal? It's much faster. This goes thorugh the mind of somebody craved with Achivements. Ever had a friendobsessed with Achievements, on an Xbox 360? I hope not. It's a weird sight. Playing the bad games for hours, playing the good games beyond the fun... Just for a stupid amountof points. WTF?

I know this is a pessimistic approach (and I apologize for the gargantuan wall of text), but I laid my opinion loose. Right there. Take it as you will.

Thats true, and a strong point, but maybe its because I've never met a person that into X-box, but at the end of the day, are there that many people like that? And as you said its just a stupid medal, I'm sure that Zeypher isn't gonna stop being a great Admin, just cause his 1,400 something edits don't count towards this medal. But its true that there are people like that. So why don't we make it so that it has to be reviewed before it can go towards a medal? The points system will be a good way to make people do some research. But hey, I'm new, so its up to the guys who've know how the system works. Sonicboom112 00:01, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I know the wiki won't be flooded with people like that. I'm just sayin, it's a possibility. Zey won't ever stop being a good admin :D

Aww, you guys are so kind. :D But I do agree some people might only edit just to get medals. I see alot of good people here who edit for the good of the wiki. And if someone is editing for the medal only with pointless entries we could easily block them and all there achievement go down the drain. And I personally don't care if all my edit point are not counted into an achievement. It's still up for grabs.... keep the comments and voting coming!

So far this wiki is not interesting in having the option. I would like to, but I don't see a lot of support in the idea. So far it is a no. Add in your vote and comments here!

Alright, I've tested this achievement leaderboard in my other wiki and I came up with this conclusion:

Chrono Wiki does not need this feature added. I found some annoying things to happen ever time I edit the other wiki. I will still keep it on the other wiki until it gets worst, but I believe if added here it may ruin the editing procedures and people may violate some our policy and guidelines set forth. We've already did so well in maintaining the wiki. We don't need another feature that could ruin what we've established. Plus there'll be no point for my awards. lol.

It was a good idea, but it doesn't seem like it will fit into the Chrono Wikiverse. Thanks to those who voted and put there opinions in to this topic.
