Dario is a boss fought in Chrono Cross. He fights Karsh while under the influence of the Masamune.

Battle strategy

Because Serge (as Lynx) cannot be removed from the party, he must be brought along. To accompany him, the most ideal choices are Riddel and Janice. In battle, Dario will counter attack any Element used against him with his Elements of the opposite color. For example, if a Red Element is used against Dario, he counters the attacker with a Blue Element. Because of this, it is inadvisable to attack him with a Yellow or Blue Element. If struck by a Yellow Element, he counters with BatEye which reduces the attacker's Hit Rate. This makes successfully hitting him with physical attacks severely lower, preventing the accumulation of Element Levels, impeding Stamina recovery, and extending the battle much longer than necessary and exponentially increasing the odds of failure. When struck with a Blue Element, he retaliates with Weaken, a Red Element, which lowers the damage output of physical attacks. Again, this prolongs the battle and shortens the odds of victory. Thus, the best option is to strike him with Red Elements, such as FirePillar or Janice's Third and Seventh level techs, 24Carrots and What'sUpDoc respectively, causing him to counter with Numble, which lowers Evasion. This creates less of an impact than either Weaken or BatEye, all things considered. Secondly, equip Riddel with the Black Plate pillaged from the Black Dragon and strike him offensively with powerful White Elements such as UltraNova. Although Dario typically retaliates with debuffs of the opposite color of the Element used against him, due to him being Black-Innate, his main offensive Elements are Black. Attacking him with offensive Elements, by Riddel, with the Black Plate equipped, makes all of his Elements heal her, whereas they would easily decimate her otherwise. Continue in this pattern, with Lynx being the main-healer and offensive physical attacker, Riddel casting White and Red offensive Elements, and Janice casting Red Elements, for a swift and easy victory.
