| | The Lagoonate is an enemy fought in Chrono Cross. Lagoonates possess muscular bodies, alongside a pair of large, massive arms and a long feeler attached to their heads. They can only be found in Marbule and the Water Dragon Isle in Home World and are known as the Black Dragon's "nightmare". | ||
| | |||
|} | The Lagoonate is a default Doppelgang which can be found in the Forget-Me-Not Pot, and is extremely useful either in the Grand Slam tournament or when using Sprigg in battle, due to it being a well-rounded enemy. | ||
==Battle and Strategy==
Lagoonates first appear as transient spirits in Marbule (Home), essentially chasing the demi-human inhabitants away from said location and forcing them to work on the S.S. Zelbess. After successfully convincing Fargo to steer the S.S. Zelbess to Marbule, Nikki, Miki, Yu, Mi and the demi-humans will perform a gig of the Song of Marbule, whereupon the Lagoonates will 'awaken' and materialize into physical beings which have to be decimated in order to restore Marbule to its former glory.
Lagoonates usually appear in twos or threes, and are sometimes accompanied by Mantarreys (Marbule) or Sidesteppas (Water Dragon Isle). They attack by performing an assortment of flying kicks at their foes, which is capable of inflicting heavy amounts of damage. They are also able to use a very small range of Blue elements, which include AquaBall and CurePlus. Their special tech, Just4Kicks, enables them to literally kick a target four times in a row, which may inflict heavy damage in the process.

==Name Origin== | |||
A lagoon is a body of shallow sea water or brackish water separated from the sea by some form of barrier. In this case, Lagoonates literally separate the demi-humans from their home due to their mere presence, and as such, the name is a befitting one.
