A '''stub''' is a short article of only a few sentences or less. At the [[Chrono Wiki]], we strive to offer our audiences sufficient coverage of all topics related to the [[Chrono (Series)]]. Short articles, also known as stubs, do not meet our standard for sufficient coverage. Chrono Wiki follows {{w|Wikipedia:Stub|Wikipedia's basic guideline for labeling stubs}}. 

==Identifying a stub==
Stub articles, although possibly containing useful information, do not quite meet the standards for sufficient coverage. Lengthy articles -- which may lack [[:Category:Infobox templates|infoboxes]], wiki-links, or headers -- are not regarded as stubs. As such, they are labeled with {{tl|cleanup}} templates. Always consult the [[MoS|Manual of Style]] to verify the proper layout for an article. If an article lacks some or most of the criteria listed there for a specific article type, flag it with the appropriate template (see below). 

==Labeling a stub==
Newly created articles or pre-existing articles alike can be and should be labeled as stubs. Labeling an article as a stub places it in the [[:Category:Stubs|Stub category]]. This allows other users to easily locate it when they seek to expand stubs. Typically, when a stub is identified, the {{tl|stub}} template should be added at the bottom of the article, just above the [[:Category:Navigation Templates|Navigation template(s)]]. Only one stub template per article is necessary. Talk pages, user pages, and forums should never be labeled as stubs. 

Typing {{tl|stub}} into an article renders this:

Which both identifies the article as a stub and adds it to a category full of other stubs. 

===Specific stub templates===
While adding {{tl|stub}} is sufficient for marking an article as a stub, at the Chrono Wiki, we prefer to sort our stubs even further, so those editors looking to expand a stubs of a specific kind can easily find them. So far, we currently have 11 different stub templates, including the basic {{tl|stub}} template. We will breakdown the specific function and proper usage of each stub below.

==Types of stubs==

===Section stubs===

This stub template should be inserted under headers to indicate that they require expanding. For instance, in a Character article, while sufficient coverage may be offered for that character's biography, the header for their specific [[tech]]s might be lacking or completely blank. In this case, the sec-stub template is appropriate. 

===Character stubs===

Lists of [[characters]], individual characters, and character races deserve the {{tl|Char-stub}} template. This template can be used in place of the sec-stub template if the entire article is about a character.

===Enemy stubs===
{{tl|Enemy-stub}}

[[Boss (Video Games)|Bosses]] and [[Enemy|enemies]] for all games that do not offer wide coverage should be marked with this template.

===Equipment stubs===
{{tl|Equip-stub}}

[[Helmet]]s, [[accessories]], [[armor]], and [[weapon]]s deserve this template if they do not have sufficient coverage. Please note that some pieces of equipment may have short article, while not being marked as stubs. So long as an equipment article contains an infobox, picture, and decent information about how to obtain the item, it does not need to be labeled as a stub. Because only so much can be said about some gear found in Chrono games, it is not necessary to mark it as a stub if only a few sentences exist for it. 

===Game stubs===

See an article about a fan game or a main game in the series that could definitely use some more information, add this stub to the article. [[Minigame]]s or other smaller features that may constitute as games (such as [[Chrono Trigger: Jet Bike Special]], for instance) may deserve this template. 

===Item stubs===

[[Potion]]s, [[Key Item]]s, and other objects found in the Chrono series that do not constitute as equipment should be marked with this stub template if they are found lacking. 

===Location stubs===

[[Locations]], places, houses, homes, dungeons, and caves all deserve this template when they lack appropriate coverage.

===Miscellaneous stubs===

Game mechanics, odd-ball objects, game developers, personnel, and other Chrono-related pages should be marked with this template. Since what qualifies as miscellaneous is so broad, it is advisable that one checks [[:Category:Miscellaneous stubs]] before marking an article with this template, to see what other types of article stubs are listed there. This should give an idea of what is considered miscellaneous at the Chrono Wiki. 

===Music stubs===

[[Music]] articles may not have much that needs saying about them. So long as they contain the track listing, a link to their corresponding soundtrack, and an embedded link to a video playing the song, the music stub template can be removed.

===Tech stubs===

[[Tech]]s and [[Element]]s should be marked with this type of stub template. Similarly with music articles and equipment articles, not much may be said about a Tech. With an infobox, information on how to learn the tech, how it looks when it's performed, and any well-written strategies on when using that move is appropriate or beneficial, the article no longer deserves a stub template.

==Expanding a stub==
If you see an article flagged as a stub and it clearly offers sufficient coverage, don't be shy; remove it immediately. Alternatively, you may wish to add information to an article that is marked as a stub. To do so, simply click on the Edit button in the upper right-hand corner of the page and start typing. Once the information has been added, and if the article now offers sufficient coverage, the template may be removed, and the page published. Some stub articles may survive several edits, with a stub template present, and without it being removed. This is okay. This means that while editors have added what they knew to the article, more can still be said that hasn't been. Either leave the template there and wait for another, more knowledgeable editor to fill in the gaps of the article, or do so yourself and remove the stub template when finished.

==Locating stubs==
In the banner on every page is a link to the [[:Category:Stubs|Stub category]]. Simply click it to begin searching for a stub. In that category, stubs are also broken down into sub-categories based on article type. Some stub articles have not been sorted by type. If you see such an article, feel free to change the stub template of that article. One stub template should exist per article.
